Gratitude Defined

I spoke with my six-year-old niece today over the phone. Part of our conversation, with my sister joining us occasionally, went like this:

Sister: Tell Ninang what you did with your sock.

Niece: I wrote a note for Santa.

Sister: What did you say?

Niece: I said “Thank you.” When he comes, he might find my note inside my sock.

Me (to my sister, translated to English): Did she receive anything yet?

Sister: No.

Ah! We should learn from the children.
